Flipkart adds TVs to its product categories

With televisions, Flipkart re-enters large appliances market nearly a year after it was forced to withdraw these products

Bangalore: India’s largest e-commerce firm Flipkart.com said it started selling televisions on its site, as it re-enters the large appliances category nearly a year after it was forced to withdraw these products because of inconsistency in delivering them to customers.

“Large appliances is a huge market in the country,” said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, senior vice-president, retail, at Flipkart. “With this launch, we look forward to delighting customers with a large selection, competitive prices and an exceptional post-order service experience. Flipkart has raised some $560 million from investors including Accel Partners, Naspers Ltd and Tiger Global Management Llc since its launch in 2007 as an online book seller.
